Bill Warren is the Executive Director at DirectEmployers Association. In his current role, Bill oversees all aspects of the Association from the promotion and product development to membership outreach and servicing. As a former corporate human resource executive with Rockwell International, Bill is widely recognized as the founder of online recruiting. Alongside his skilled team of employees, Bill has worked tirelessly to reshape the online recruitment industry, and make it an employer-driven, not profit driven environment. Through this motto, he has developed an unparalleled OFCCP compliance solution and countless partnerships with leading organizations in the industry. As a result of this hard work, one such trusted partner, the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA), now works hand-in-hand with DirectEmployers and together the organizations created the National Labor Exchange (NLx)–a widely recognized electronic labor exchange ran by nonprofit technology developed by the Association. In addition to the compliance relationships, Bill has also encouraged and overseen the build out of the .JOBS top-level domain (TLD) as an global recruitment marketing tool used by employers since 2009.
Prior to forming DirectEmployers, Bill founded Online Career Center (OCC)–the first employment site on the internet–in August of 1992. He remained president of OCC after it was sold to TMP Worldwide (now Monster Worldwide) in December 1995. OCC was renamed Monster.com and he was named its first president in December 1998. Bill received the prestigious Pericles Pro Meritus Award in 1997, an honor presented by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Employment Management Association (EMA) in recognition of being the founder of online recruiting and for his outstanding contribution to the human resource profession.
Bill is a graduate of Indiana University, with post-graduate studies at Edinboro University in Pennsylvania. He is also a six-year U.S. Army veteran.
