INDIANAPOLIS, November 4, 2014 – On Wednesday, November 5, 2014, DirectEmployers Association and Joshua Waldman, author of Job Searching with Social Media For Dummies and the Career Enlightenment blog, will be hosting a live event for job seekers on Facebook’s Social Jobs Partnership page. The live event, “Facebook: Your Secret Weapon for Finding Great Work,” will look to engage job seekers and provide tips and advice on how to turn casual Facebook browsing into a valuable job search tool.

DirectEmployers Association recognizes that today’s job seekers have a variety of tools at their disposal when it comes to looking for employment, including social media. Although there is sometimes a stigma that comes with social media and job search, more and more recruiters are using it as a tool for promoting their employment opportunities and finding candidates.

Through this live event, Joshua Waldman will dispel negative views of using social media for job seeking and share his expertise on how to leverage Facebook to find employment. In addition, he will explain the importance of creating a professional brand and how other individuals have used Facebook to uncover leads and find full-time employment in their field of choice. He will also share how not to use Facebook in your job search, using examples promoted by the media and tips on how to protect yourself using Facebook’s privacy settings and other tools.

This live event will take place on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 from 2:00PM – 3:00PM EST on the Social Jobs Partnership page at http://www.facebook.com/socialjobs. As a free event for job seekers, no registration will be required. Simply join the live event at 2:00PM to view the full broadcast. During the live event, Joshua Waldman will answer questions from job seekers and provide additional resources and tools that can be used during an employment search. Job seekers can also submit questions on Twitter using the hashtag #SJPLive to join the conversation.
