August… reminds me of county and state fairs, last minute vacations, back to school shopping, family reunions, heat waves and… the submission deadline for the first DirectEmployers Awards Competition. Watch the latest episode of The Employment Line or read the post below to learn more!

You may say to yourself “I have so much on my plate right now, why bother submitting an award entry?” Here’s why – it only takes a few minutes and the questions are pretty straightforward. This is your chance to highlight your organization and share successes, as well as bumps in the road. Your story could help peers in their efforts and initiatives. Need another reason to participate? This one involves the wallet. Winners will be given up to 500 dollars toward travel expenses and comped two nights stay at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort.

Now that I’ve got your attention, here are the three categories: Recruitment, Technology, and OFCCP Compliance. One winner and one runner-up will be chosen for two tiers within each category, for a total of six winners and six runners-up. There is no limit to the number of entries or categories that may be submitted by an organization.

Submissions are due by 11:59 PM Pacific Time on Friday, August 16th. For more information, please visit the awards page on DEAM13 site.

Speaking of DEAM, did you know we are only 10 weeks out from the big event? Don’t forget to register for the conference, sign up for the Veterans Connect Career Fair, invite your co-workers, and let everyone know on social using hashtag #DEAM13.

Here’s something else you could do to support our efforts. Let the candidates in your database know about the Veterans Connect Career Fair on October 21st. For event details, visit the Veterans Connect website. They can register today… and you can too, as an employer of course.
