The National Labor Exchange will now provide Facebook users with easy access to over one million jobs via the Social Jobs Partnership’s new job seeking application.

INDIANAPOLIS, November 14, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Today the Social Jobs Partnership (SJP) announces the launch of a Facebook application that will give job seekers access to over 1.7 million jobs. US.jobs, powered by the National Labor Exchange, a joint venture of the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA) and DirectEmployers Association, will contribute over one million unduplicated, verified employment opportunities to the Facebook application.

The Social Jobs Partnership began in October 2011 as a collaboration between the U.S. Department of Labor, the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), DirectEmployers Association, NASWA and Facebook. Since its creation, the partnership’s goal has been to facilitate job seeking advice and information to Americans on a social platform.

Job seekers can easily access this new application from Facebook by searching for Social Jobs Partnership. Simply click ‘Like’ and the application will be located in the ‘Resources’ link. The application then allows users to narrow their job search by keyword, location and career field.

“Making jobs easily accessible to job seekers around the nation has always been a goal of DirectEmployers Association and the National Association of State Workforce Agencies,” commented Bill Warren, Executive Director, DirectEmployers Association. “By launching this Facebook application through the Social Jobs Partnership, employment opportunities from the National Labor Exchange will become more accessible after being placed on a platform that a large percentage of the population accesses daily from both computer and mobile devices.”

The launch of this Facebook application reflects a growing trend for employers to use social media in their efforts to recruit new employees. Results of a study conducted for the Social Jobs Partnership by NACE also found increased emphasis on Facebook as a recruiting tool. Approximately 50% of the employers surveyed are currently using Facebook in their hiring process, and anticipate social media will play an increasingly important role in the talent acquisition process.

“Our study also found that nearly 85% of employers using Facebook would recommend it to other employers as a recruiting tool,” says Marilyn Mackes, Executive Director, NACE. “Employers see the widespread use of Facebook among the public as key to enabling them to cast a wide net and connect with potential job seekers. This new tool from the Social Jobs Partnership will enhance that connection.”

“The National Association of State Workforce Agencies and DirectEmployers Association are pleased the SJP has forged a new way of sharing relevant and high quality career information through the innovative use of social media. NASWA and DirectEmployers can offer over a million unduplicated and current jobs from verified employers of all sizes through SJP’s newest application at no cost to employers. Through the collaboration of NASWA and DirectEmployers SJP users will have quicker access to jobs originating on state-sponsored job banks and large corporate websites,” said Richard Hobbie, Executive Director, NASWA.

The Social jobs Partnership created this application to tap into innovation happening for job seekers on Facebook. “Work4 Labs was quick to recognize that Facebook was capable of being more than a site where people share their social activities. We have done our part to help Facebook evolve into the best possible platform for connecting people with the companies looking to hire them,” stated Stéphane Le Viet, CEO, Work4 Labs, the world leader in Facebook recruitment technology. “We have already enabled millions of people to connect with the more than 17,000 businesses that use our hiring solution on Facebook. Now we are honored to work with the Social Jobs Partnership to help social recruiting make the next giant step forward.”
